She is an pestiferous woman who comes off immediately as selfish and uncaring of other people and their own desires. She is also super distorted and oblivious of events happening around her such as the climax of her own grandchildren and son. Using her consumption to nab what she wants, she ultimately destroys the lives of herself and her family by taking them literally down the wrong path. She is not an extremely religious person, but at the end of the story, she uses religion in a way to try to save herself from the Misfit and achieves grace sexual love before he shoots her. With being selfish, the grandmother isn’t the move woman in the world and just before she is shot, she realizes that selfishness and usance will not always work and that other may need to be reached out to and might need help. “The grandmothers head cleared for an instant.”(p.10).
