Mathis RESEARCH DISCIPLINE: Management and Leadership TOPIC of INTEREST: Sexual Harassment in the (Army) Workplace The main significance of this proposal is to bring to light a review of the sexual harassment that takes place at the workplace. Sexual harassment is a form of discrimination that violates the equality of human rights in the workplace. These are very unfortunate incidences that still occur in a manner that is unrestrained. Such conduct may be verbal, non-verbal, visual or physical. This results in an intimidating, hostile, offensive or uncomfortable environment. The best way of dealing with sexual harassment is by preventing these acts from happening. These preventive measures include: institutions adopting sexual harassment policies, establishing complaints processes and training. These actions can help deal with the occurrences that are associated with sexual harassment. Additionally, provide training which educates about sexual harassment. Moreover, having channels for filing complaints that are effective encourages victims to report these cases and will discourage people who harass others from carrying on with these unwanted behaviors PROBLEM STATEMENT: There is no occupation that is safe from sexual harassment because it is a prevalent issue in the workplaces. The frequency at which these occurs shows how this is a serious problem thus creating an urgent need to eliminate it.
